Fixing the Firefox Page Loading Problem on OS X

Blogged in Computers by Naproxen Sunday May 31, 2009 at about 11:39 PM

For those of you who might be experiencing problems with Firefox not loading pages after continuous use, it turns out the problem is Flash Player 9 that comes installed by default with Firefox 3 on OS X. Upgrading to Flash player 10 is suppose to fix this issue. Way to go Adobe. Yet another reason why Flash/Flex sucks.

As a software engineer who has to develop on Flex, it’s unbelievable such a piece of shit left the doors of Adobe and for Adobe to claim it’s ready for enterprise use. Get this, I actually had white space problems with the Flex compiler! Yes, the stupid compiler wouldn’t compile because I had broken the line into two lines. For those of you unfamiliar with ActionScript, it is a EMCA script derived language much like Javascript. More importantly, it is semi-colon terminated so white spaces shouldn’t matter. This is an elementary bug that any intermediate computer science student who’ve written a compiler should have avoided.
