The new President of the Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed, a former political prisoner, has decided to sell off extravagant government property and bring the cost of the presidency from $150 million to $4 million instead.

“I don’t feel the cut, and we can use the rest of the money for old age pensioners, for schools, for housing and very many things we need now.”

I guess once you’ve lived in prison for so long, it’s all very bearable but you have to admire him for living up to his believes.
